August 1975 in Traverse City, Michigan: Home of the National Cherry
Festival, surrounded by the beautiful counties of Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Kalkaska, Benzie and Antrim, a wood fired smoke
house produced the first batch of Deering's Famous Classic Beef Jerky. This product became an overnight success.
On days that the jerky was smoked the neighborhood was filled with tantalizing and nose tingling aroma. Customers
would wait with avid anticipation to purchase the latest batch. The mild hickory smoked flavor coupled with a moist
and lean texture made for an overwhelming taste experience. |
Since the beginning, over the next 30 years, "Deering's
Famous Jerkey" has grown to producing more than 26 varieties of Beef, including Chicken, Pork, Elk, Venison
and Buffalo. |
